Ford F-150 is the 2018 Motor Trend Truck of the Year?Ford silences its critics with a midcycle F-150 that is simply dominant. Ford gambled more than $1 billion and abandoned seven decades of steel bodywork to create a 2015 F-150 with an aluminum body. Dropping a claimed 700 pounds would improve fuel economy, increase towing capacity, improve power-to-weight ratios, and create a truck with fewer parts subject to rust. It was unanimous. The Ford F-150 is Motor Trend's 2018 Truck of the Year. It was a pretty resounding win, road test editor Chris Walton said. Nothing really came close. Ford, Americas truck leader for 40 straight years, has bested all competitors to earn 2018 Motor Trend Truck of the Year honors for the new Ford F-150. This is the fifth win for F-150, and this award follows the all-new Ford Super Duty capturing the award in 2017. Back-to-back wins for F-150 and Super Duty reflect what we are also seeing and hearing from customers as we celebrate 40 straight years as Americas favorite and best-selling trucks, said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president and president, North America. The Ford Truck team stretched further than ever to deliver our toughest, most capable and smartest trucks. This years competition was fierce, but the vote was unanimous, said Ed Loh, Motor Trend editor in chief. The newly redesigned 2018 F-150 exceeded our expectations in every category ? powertrain, performance, technology and overall execution. Car and Driver said? The F-150 has been the nations top-selling model and Ford's cash cow for decades. Matching its modern aluminum-body construction is a slew of advanced engines and high-tech driver assists. The F-150 was our choice as the top pickup among our 2017 10 Best Trucks and SUVs, and the 2018 model improves on that strong base
